Evensong

Our January Evensong continues with music we will be singing during our residency at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin. The introit “O Holy Spirit, Lord of Grace” by Christopher Tye is from the Golden Age, the Canticles “Dyson in D” from the late romantic, and our anthem “O Lorde, the maker of al thing” is by the modern South African composer John Joubert. The mood of the season (Epiphany) and the time of year is about moving through which is reflected in the bare-bones intimacy of the Tye, to the menacing nature of an evening prayer attributed to Henry VIII.
